This programme is designed for students who want to embark on an in-depth study of Business and Management to develop analytical and evaluative skills. Our programme provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge of key business functions and their relationship with the wider strategic and international environment. You will also expand your knowledge and understanding of the current changes in the business environment through the study of leadership, organisational change and transformation, innovation and stakeholder management.
By the end of this masters level programme you will be able to critically examine the use of the key functional areas of marketing, human resources, finance, accounting and operations management to analyse strategic perspectives regionally, nationally and internationally at organisation and sector levels in support of wider organisational activity. The programme will provide knowledge to evaluate the relationship between the organisation and its environment and the importance and nature of organisational change and transformation. Students will be able to critically analyse contemporary issues, challenges and problems relating to business and management that impact on business and management at functional, strategic and sector levels. Students will learn how to evaluate the role and contribution of integrative strategic and leadership approaches. Importantly, the programme synthesise relevant critical thinking through academic research and applications of knowledge in real-world environment.

The course provides an interdisciplinary approach to Global Citizenship and will help students form their own understandings of complex and contested notions in the business environment. The course will provide students with the opportunity to develop Digital Literacy skills through the use of applications software used by contemporary organisations. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of managerial systems and their impact upon organisations. Digital literacy skills are also developed through the engagement with the ‘E’ aspects of the learning process through the process of engagement with ‘E’ materials, tasks, Personal Development Planning and collaborative learning.

This module will develop your understanding of the market decisions that organisations face. Through the application of marketing theory, models and tools you will gain an understanding of the importance of the organisational environment and the impact this has for analysis, planning and control in a marketing management context.
7AC0006 Managing Financial Performance
The ability to analyse and question financial information is essential to current managers applicable to a financial or general management role. This module will enable you to analyse and question financial information and financial decision-making. Through a thorough analysis of financial statements, company investment decisions and company financial decision making you will be exposed to the essential elements of company finances.
7HR024 Leadership and Human Resource Practice in Organisation
This module will explore and provide analysis of the HRM role in organisations particularly the link between people management skills at work. It addresses the rhetoric of HRM and organisational performance and contemporary management issues such as leadership, people development, diversity and downsizing. Students will be able to diagnose how HRM impacts on leading and managing people. Students can apply this diagnosis in executing roles whilst also resolving day-to-day management challenges in different types of organisation.

The module will provide a firm foundation in the principles of operations management. The module will introduce students to a broad range of operations management problems, tools and knowledge facing managers working in modern organisations. The module will develop project management skills in the global context
7MG004 Sustainability and Business
Climate change, resource depletion at the time of population growth and the role of business in society are amongst the most highly debated subjects today and create a profound challenge to the status quo for all organisations. But these issues also create opportunities for innovation and change, and the business case for acting sustainably is becoming more and more persuasive. In this module, you will explore the range of meta-challenges facing business, understand the social and the business case for acting sustainably, and discuss how sustainability can be managed. On successful completion of the module, you will have a critical understanding of the sustainability challenges and opportunities, and how businesses can manage these.
7BE002 Strategic Management
This module provides a vehicle to integrate the knowledge and skills developed in previously studied functional modules. The module introduces practical techniques for identifying emerging trends in the business environment, both in a national and international context. It encourages the use of conceptual frameworks and practical tools and techniques to improve the quality of strategic decision-making, and develops the insights and competencies needed to present strategies and business plans in a persuasive manner.
7MG001 Independent Business Analysis Project
This module provides students with the skills to understand masters level and post graduate work that are related to analysis and research. Student are expected to be able show masters level standards in their ability to collect data, analysis and provide critical thinking and conclusion. Student will apply these skills and those gained on other taught modules to an original research post graduate project relevant to the award being taken.
Intakes for the MBA programme are available 3 times a year. All applications should be submitted to ERCI no later than 1 month before the commencement date.
The MBA classes rely on a system of continuous assessment on a module-by-module basis through the use of short essays, learning journals, annotated bibliographies, book reviews, quizzes, student presentations, research proposals and general class discussions. The coursework load for each module is set out in individual module descriptors given to students at the beginning of each semester.
On successful completion of the MBA you will meet the requirements of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
