The Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination is designed to provide students with specific examination skills, mastery of the English language and a broad understanding of the culture and learning environment in local government schools.
Students who complete and pass the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination will have direct entry to any of the local Polytechnics. Upon graduation, a student is eligible to pursue further studies leading to the award of a Bachelor’s Degree. Moreover, graduates may seek employment in Singapore.

Students undertaking the Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination are expected to take 10 subjects. . This programme is available on full time basis, and will take 24 months to complete. Full-time students will attend classes 5 days a week on weekdays.
Module Description
This subject provides the student to communicate effectively in English and be able to listen, read and view with understanding, accuracy and critical appreciation, a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts from print, non print and electronic sources. It also helps to develop the student’s ability to speak, write and make presentations in internationally acceptable English that is grammatically, fluent and appropriate for purpose, audience, context and culture. Students will also have a higher levels of proficiency to think through, interpret and evaluate fiction and non- fiction texts and how language is used to evoke responses and construct meaning. Lastly, it helps the student to interact effectively with people from their own or different cultures.
The syllabus is intended to provide students with the fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills. The general aims of the mathematics syllabuses are to enable students to acquire the necessary mathematical concepts and skills for continuous learning in mathematics and related disciplines, and for applications to the real world. It develops the necessary process skills for the acquisition and application of mathematical concepts and skills. It also develops the mathematical thinking and problem solving skills and applies these skills to formulate and solve problems. The student will learn how to recognize and use connections among mathematical ideas, and between mathematics and other disciplines.
This subject provide, through well designed studies of experimental and practical science, a worthwhile educational experience for all students, whether or not they go on to study science beyond this level and, in particular, to enable them to acquire sufficient understanding and knowledge to become confident citizens in a technological world, able to take or develop an informed interest in matters of scientific import. It develop abilities and skills that are relevant to study science, stimulate interest in and care for the environment.
This subject provides an introduction to enable the students to acquire the necessary mathematical concepts and skills for continuous leaning in mathematics and related disciplines, and for applications to the real world. It helps to develop the necessary process skills for the acquisition and application of mathematical concepts and skills. Make an effective use of a variety of mathematical tools in the learning and application of mathematics and develop the mathematical thinking and problem solving skills and apply these skills to formulate and solve problems.
This syllabus aims to develop an understanding of the principles and concepts of accounting and their applications in a variety of business situations. Candidates will acquire basic knowledge in double entry and develop the ability to prepare, present analyse and interpret financial statements. It enables students to acquire knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, principles, and procedures in the context of business aims and activities. It also develop skills in preparing, analyzing and interpreting accounting information and understanding their implication as well as to develop an understanding of the role of accounting in providing an information system for monitoring and decision making.

The Preparatory Course for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination commences at the beginning on each year. All applications should be submitted to ERCI no later than 2 months before the commencement.

Graduation Requirements
Students must meet the attendance requirement of at least 90%, and must attain a passing grade of C6 for each subject. Upon completion of the programme, students will be awarded the Preparatory Course Completion Certificate issued by ERCI.

Associate Professor Alan Go has 25+ years of experience in senior management roles, including Regional Marketing and Sales Director, Managing Director, COO, and CEO. He advises on education quality assurance, school merger & acquisition, and school operational processes. Alan is a dedicated member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) organizing committee, focused on enhancing higher education quality in the region. He is appointed Associate Professor with Xijing Universuity, Xi’an China and served as Director Academic Quality and Research with ERC Insitite. A mentor to numerous young adults and executives, he fosters management and leadership skills using entrepreneurial, design, and critical thinking approaches. Alan’s expertise extends to teaching at the Bachelor and Masters levels, as well as conducting corporate training. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) in Journalism (Advertising) from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Business Administration (International Business) from Edith Cowan University (top 15% of his cohort), and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM University) in Spain.
Yen has a proven track record in various key business development & marketing roles involving evolution and change management. Her pilot roles in various media organisations of Cable TV (Singapore Cable Vision), Regional TV (MTV), Internet Advertising (China.com) and Digital Music (Soundbuzz & Motorola) at their nascent stages is a testimonial of her experience and expertise of driving businesses whilst embracing new technology. Her acumen and passion are evidenced in multiple “first to market” products and projects she has been involved in cutting across from media to digital products. Always pushing the concept of creative solutionism while building strong relationships with customers has translated to dynamic growth for the various companies. Being an ardent believer in change management to stay on top of ever changing economies, her current role as Chief Executive Officer of ERC Institute sees interesting forays leveraged on her experience.
